About Our Event

Shaggin' for a Cause is an annual fundraising event started in 2020 and presented by several local organizations to raise money for our local residents facing the financial hardship of cancer. The event is held in South Hill, Virginia features some of the best in Beach Music entertainment including bands and DJ's. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association (MCCA) and distributed throughout the local community. The event is made possible by the dedication of volunteers, local sponsors and proceeds raised from the sale of tickets. Town of South Hill

The town of South Hill, Virginia has provided us with the perfect venue at "The Exchange" which also houses the public works department. With a total of 20,000 square feet we're able to accomodate a large crowd while at the same time having the ability to host this event rain or shine. Thank you to the town for allowing us to utilize this wonderful venue for such a great cause. You will find plenty of parking located behind the building and also in the former Boyd Automotive parking lot.

Flip Flop Live

Flip Flop Live was created in late 2018 as an online destination for Beach Music fans. Their platform was created based on a growing need in the music community to easily find where your favorite band or DJ will be performing along with other various industry news, videos, photos and more. Their work earned them the "Michael Branch" award presented by the Carolina Beach Music Academy during the twenty-fifth annual CBMA Industry Awards in N. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in November of 2019. With their help, we're able to easily promote the event to a large audience throughout Virginia and the Carolinas.

Lake Life Live Concert Series

The Lake Life Live team has done a wonderful job presenting their Beach Music Summer Concert Series to the residents and visitors of Virginia's only lakeside town. Each year you will find their monthly events hosted in the heart of downtown Clarksville, Virginia as they present the biggest and best names from the Beach Music industry. The event continues to see growth year after year and with help from members of their team, we're able to bring you "Shaggin' for a Cause".

Concerts in the Park

Concerts in the Park hosts an annual summer concert series at the beautiful ampitheater in downtown South Hill. The South Hill Chamber brings entertainment and various events to the town in hopes of building a stronger community by making it a great place to live and play. Their entertainment lineup features everything from Beach, Blues, Country, Top40 as well as local entertainment throughout the Summer months. Be sure to check their schedule for upcoming events and they also offer a season pass for their events.

Mecklenburg County Cancer Association

After several battles with different types of cancer, MCCA's founder Wendell Watterson found through research and after speaking with others there was a need for local residents. There are several local fundraisers that raise money in which goes to research and administrative costs but there's little help for those currently undergoing treatment. All money donated through MCCA stays local to Mecklenburg County, Virginia and recipients must reside within Mecklenburg County. They make direct payment to applicants who are approved by the board members. All board members are Mecklenburg County Residents and volunteer their time. Expenses are limited to mandatory fees and expenses for fundraising that cannot be obtained through donations. All donations are tax deductible as MCCA is an approved IRS non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
